Be Captain Ken Rea
Today was a special day seeing the Biggs T36s and T37As. They were playful and having a celebration dance after a seal kill in East Sound. We spent much of the time shutdown just watching their playfulness among each other. I also put the Hydrophone down and we listened to some of their vocals.
There were a couple of calves in the mix and it was so nice to see the extra skips in their steps as they played along with the rest of the pod’s whales.
We saw Harbor Seals, Bald Eagles, a Pigeon Guillemot with a fish, Harbor Porpoise and Black Oystercatchers with a chick.
We also saw someone having a very bad day. Having run aground they were having to wait for the next high tide for the boat to be retrieved.
A beautiful day on the water with some beautiful creatures.
