Solar Eclipse – Do your Part to Prevent Event-Caused Forest Fires . . .

From Oregon Department of Forestry

Where ever you may be watching the August 21, 2017 eclipse, do your part to help to avoid eclipse related wildfires.

The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) will be fully staffed that week pre-positioning helicopters, airtankers and firefighters in areas of high fire occurrences and where there are planned eclipse events.

ODF also plans to leverage their partners’ aviation resources to ensure that the aerial delivery of firefighters for initial attack and extrication capabilities are readily available to provide for firefighter safety, mitigating the risk of anticipated delays on  traditional travel routes.

The department and its many partners have shifted from planning to implementing an aggressive fire prevention campaign.

Forest industry landowners will do their part, Help them out.
