“Effective October 31, any one or two-family home that was built in 1916 or earlier or is a designated historic resource cannot be demolished by the typical bulldozer process, but must be manually deconstructed and salvaged.” – Restore Oregon
What’s the difference between demolished and deconstructed? Well demolished means a bulldozer comes in, takes her down and hauls her away to the landfill. Manually deconstructed and salvaged, means just that – people will be able to re-use the pieces. The new ruling sounds good to me – smile.
Kudos both to Portland and Restore Oregon.
