Hazel Nut and Salted Caramel Ice Cream –
In 1851, the first settlers discovered the Tillamook Valley was the perfect place to raise dairy cows. By 1894, Tillamook’s cheese- maker Peter Macintosh started making cheese. In 1972, Tillamook started making ice-cream.
Meanwhile, also in the 1800s, Frenchman David Gernot arrived in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and planted a grove of European hazel nut trees.
So why did it take so long (2016) for them to get the ice cream and hazelnuts together? I have no idea. I can tell you it is the best thing I ever ate all of.
You can buy Tillamook cheese and Tillamook ice cream all over the world. Now when you travel, start looking for it with Oregon hazelnuts and salted caramel.
